Dear Fellow Residents of St. George:

As we enter an important election cycle where we will have the opportunity to elect three new members of our city council, I would like to take a moment to share some information about myself and perhaps share a few reasons why you should vote for me to be a member of your city council.

My name is Steven Jennings. I was born and raised here in St. George. I’m a prototypical St. George native with the “Dixie Spirit” in my blood and red sand in my shoes. My roots extend back to the very first settlers of the St. George valley.

I was educated here locally at East Elementary, Woodward Sixth Grade Center, Dixie Middle, and Dixie High School. I received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Dixie State College, and went on to receive an MBA from Southern Utah University.

I absolutely consider myself one of the lucky ones.  I have had the rare opportunity to remain here and build a career in our local community while receiving an education and raising a family. I was one of the early recipients of a four-year degree from Dixie State College.

I’m a family man. I have an incredible wife of 18 years and five amazing children. My family is my life and my entire world. They’re growing up and attending our local schools here in our community.

So, why should you vote for me to serve on your city council?

I’m a qualified candidate that will bring a positive influence and experienced contribution to the discussions and issues that come before the city council on a regular basis.

Over the past 18 years I have interacted with a broad range of people who are here in our community for different reasons. I’ve interacted on a regular basis with local, state, and federal government dealing with various issues related to growth and economic development.

Recently, I have become increasingly concerned with the leadership being exhibited within our city. It seems as though we may be drifting away from the values and principles that have that have shaped St. George into the remarkable community it is today. This realization has inspired me to step forward and offer my leadership, knowledge, and commitment to serving you, the residents of St. George.

Having been heavily involved in commercial real estate development, construction, and management, I have witnessed firsthand the significance of responsible growth in our community. I firmly believe that it is our duty to ensure that future growth is not only responsible but also well-planned. We must be responsible stewards of our resources, ensuring that our actions today consider the needs of future generations.

While water conservation is undoubtedly important, we must also prioritize collaborative infrastructure planning within our city and in partnership with neighboring municipalities as we face the reality that St. George, and Washington County, will most certainly continue to grow. By working together, we can develop a comprehensive and cohesive strategy that safeguards our resources and facilitates the prosperity of our community for years to come. The "Dixie Spirit" that characterizes our region is built on our remarkable ability to come together, both as citizens and among different levels of local government. I intend to harness this spirit and uphold our can-do attitude and lifestyle, which is essential to our city's continued success.

My vision for St. George is clear - I am committed to bringing experienced leadership and knowledge to the table. With a strong background in business ownership and finance, I possess the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of our city's governance and contribute by striving to make informed decisions that will benefit all residents.

I humbly request your vote and confidence in the upcoming election for St. George City Council. Together, we can restore the experienced leadership that our city deserves and ensure that St. George remains a shining example of community strength and unity.

Sincerely,

Steven Jennings
